Through this project, we aim to protect the Arabian sand cat by developing a foundational scientific knowledge base that supports long term conservation efforts for the species. This initiative responds to its classification as an endangered species on the Abu Dhabi Red List and highlights the importance of preserving biodiversity within the emirate’s ecosystems.

The project adopts an integrated approach that combines environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis, GPS tracking technologies, surveillance cameras, and AI-based data analysis. These methods will enhance scientific understanding of the species’ population size, distribution, and behavioral patterns across different areas of Abu Dhabi, contributing to more effective conservation strategies.
